As a site for a mobile application the Asssist there were several key factors to be included in writing up the specification; extra attention to detail in specific areas had to be given to make sure that the site addressed the needs of its users. These ‘needs’ and the actions taken include:

Mobile accessibility

As a site for a mobile application it was important that the site would not only function well when browsed on a PC or laptop but also on devices such as mobile phones (i.e. iPhones and Android terminals).

We decided here to adopt the functionality of our free WordPress theme Responsive TwentyTen as a basis to allow the site to respond to the environment it was being viewd in. In fact with this technique the site should hold strong regardless of what screen resolutions are being used and as such will support any future devices are bought into use.

Advanced styling/design techniques

The application that this site is to back up is a client for Dribbble, a design “show and tell” site used by some of the world’s most highly regarded deisgners when it comes to print and the web. With this in mind the Asssist site needed to show that it too was on the leading edge of web technology. This was done with the use of advanced CSS and and can be see specifics such as the header gradient. With the target user zone very clear we were able to focus on users who were highly likely to be using the latest browsers (webkit based such as Safari and Chrome or Mozilla’s popular Firefox).
